This month, small groups of Ferrari clients will unlock the potential of the
Ferrari FF’s 4RM four-wheel drive system by taking the new V12 GT where many would fear to tread in any vehicle: a custom-made snow and ice track in Aspen, Colorado. Soon after, in late May, a pair of FFs will be on hand at the 2012 Ferrari Driving Experience at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant to augment the 458 Italia and California models used for most of the track exercises.
FF in the Winter Driving Experience
Holiday revelers in Steamboat Springs, Colorado might have caught a glimpse of something out of the ordinary in early January: a Ferrari V12 GT throwing up snow trails. Professional drivers have been testing the
Ferrari FF and winter tires there in preparation for the Winter Driving Experience taking place this month and next in Aspen.
As shown in previous issues of Ferrari News, a fleet of eight Ferrari FFs will soon be tearing around a track surface that many drivers would have thought unsuitable even for their luxury SUVs: snow and ice. Not only will the Winter Driving Experience demonstrate the FF’s formidable winter driving capabilities, but it will also teach invaluable skills for dealing with unforeseen hazards on low-grip roads. FF at the Ferrari Driving Experience
While the track stars at the Ferrari Driving Experience have always been the mid-rear V8 Berlinettas, currently the 458 Italia, Ferrari has also brought along a few V12 GTs for clients to try on the world-class Circuit Mont Tremblant. For 2012, the all-new Ferrari FF replaces the 599 HGTE in this role.
Though designed as a high-speed luxury GT, the Ferrari FF will certainly handle this track with aplomb. For all who have driven it, unleashing the performance of its 651 horsepower V12 and seven-speed dual clutch transmission in a track environment will undeniably confirm the FF’s place in the Ferrari GT family. The breathtaking mountain backdrop and exhilarating exhaust note only add to the enjoyment.
